When I tell you you’re beautiful And when you’re in the camera eyes You’re such a badass girl When you’re wearing next to nothing When you’re in complete control You’re such a badass girl Always looking in the mirror Take me home tonight |
CREDITS: Music and Lyrics by Vocals, Keyboards, Bass, Drums - Mark Greenawalt BEHIND THE MUSIC: This song started with the riff. I had dialed up a Fender Rhodes patch within Logic and then added the amp distortion to it to get that Jon Lord Deep Purple sound. While producing the song I toyed with a drum sequencer that had a techno sound for the beginning of the song, but then I transitioned to a real-sounding drum track at the second chorus and brought the bass in at this point too. The little synth solo parts include some interesting variations beyond the typical pentatonic scale when it switches to major notes and some chromatic runs. So fun to break the tradition every now and then. The song was written as an exercise for the Two-Week Tune Geeks, a songwriting group on Facebook. The lyrics were required to contain the phrase "When I tell you that." About a year ago I had read the book You Are A Badass and I think that word had been resonating with me. TECHNICAL: ISRC - QZNWT2242827 There were no guitars used on this song, the recurring riff is actually a Fender Rhodes patch within Logic that is routed through a guitar processor. The live Jackson bass comes in part way through and the drums were played on a Roland V-drum set through Superior Drummer processors. Original tracks recorded and mixed using Logic X in Phoenix: Vocals on CAD Equitek microphone. This song is available for synch licensing and is easy clear and one-stop with me owning the original recording. Contact mark@markgreenawalt.com for opportunities in film and TV projects. PLACEMENTS: Studio Performance Video - Produced, filmed, and edited by Mark Greenawalt using Premier. |
